Raising the Bar

Before we were bike shop owners, we were bike shop “enthusiasts”, Kevin and I would take trips to cycling destinations like Moab, Sedona, and Downieville, and the first thing we did when we rolled into town was visit the local shops. Yes, all of them. We often judged the quality of the local cycling experience by the quality of the town’s bike shops. So much so that when we rebuilt the current PRO SHOP, we used our “do’s and don’ts” list from our journeys to curate the experience we wanted and now offer today—everything from the vibe to the tools, to the shop layout.

When visiting a shop on our travels, one of our major pet peeves was the “ol’ disappearing bike trick”. What this consisted of was handing your high-end bike over to the mechanics only to have it disappear into the depths of the shop for repair. We loved the shops where we could see the work performed and even interact with the mechanic while they were working on it. Priority number one for us was an open floor plan and a place for customers to hang out (and sit) while their repair was being performed or to watch someone else’s repair. We feel that this experience offers complete transparency with repairs and also allows us to showcase what we think are the best mechanics in the area. Although this floor plan doesn’t always work for all bike shops (our FAMILY SHOP included), at our PRO SHOP, it builds trust between the customer and the staff when working on higher-end bikes. Especially when it comes to seeing what type of effort goes into making your bike perfect #bikesdoneright

Our bike bar offers you a comfy seat and if you’re thirsty while you wait, you can grab a free freshly poured cider or beer. You don’t need to go to Moab or Sedona to experience a world-class bike shop. It’s right here in New Jersey, minutes from NYC. We pride ourselves in the quality of our repairs, our transparency on how they get done, and having awesome beverages on tap while you wait. If you’re looking for a cup of coffee while you wait for your bike to appear from the depths of the repair shop, there are many shops that offer this experience. If you’re looking for a post-ride beverage and repair, we are the place for you.

You are always welcome at the PRO SHOP bike bar.
